Oregon Conservation Center

Portland, OR
2019

The Oregon Conservation Center was created to reflect the mission of the Oregon chapter of the environmental non-profit, The Nature Conservancy and become a gathering space for like-minded conservation organizations.

Overview

Idea

Demonstrate The Nature Conservancy’s commitment to sustainability, diversity, and ecological wellness.

Implementation

Inherently values-driven, the project is rooted in a deep belief that Oregon’s natural environment is a resource and was intended to complement and restore TNC’s existing 1970’s office building alongside of a new pavilion, to host on-site collaboration with other partner environmental organizations.

Results

The building utilized advanced solar and stormwater management technology, a landscape of native Oregon flora, innovative Cross Laminated Timber (CLT), and other building materials sources from TNC’s project sites. As the embodiment of environmentalism and sustainability, the Conservation Center connects people with nature in the heart of Portland.
