Aug. 6, 2025

Multnomah County

Thanks to Multnomah County Commissioner Shannon Singleton, MSW (District 2) and Commissioner Vince Jones-Dixon (District 4) for proclaiming August 2025 as Black Business Month.

Read an except from the proclamation below:

H. Generational and community wealth in the Black Community has been stripped and remains under attack. There is no restorative justice without economic justice and a thriving Black economy, which includes supported
entrepreneurship.

I. Multnomah County encourages residents to support Black-owned businesses by purchasing their services and promoting their businesses.

Multnomah County Proclaims:

1. The month of August 2025 as Black Business Month, celebrating all Black-owned businesses in Multnomah County and encouraging residents to buy from Black businesses.

2. Multnomah County reaffirms its commitment to promoting diversity within procurement processes, Good Faith Effort, Supplier Diversity Programs, and the Construction Diversity and Equity Fund. Multnomah County will implement best practices for information access, data disaggregation, and working to address disparities and barriers to the growth of Black businesses.
